Tacky Time

The door to the location of the closing was locked when I arrived about five minutes early.  As it was easily 95o outside, and the office was part of a one-story condo-complex without a main entrance or a lobby, I decided to head back to the car and wait.  Why be dripping with sweat by the time the closing started?

I saw my client arrive, and then some other people, so I went back over to the designated door. Though everyone tried the doorknob, it was decidedly locked. The other attorney called the number of the office, but the call went to voicemail.

Twenty-five minutes and seven wilted people later, the bank attorney arrived. “Oooops, ha, ha!” he said as he unlocked the door.  “The service was slow in the diner today, but I ate there anyway. I didn’t want to bring it back where it would have gotten cold and soggy by the time we finished.”

As opposed to the rest of us, who grew hot and soggy while we waited for him to finish his lunch.
