Most Streets Are Two-Way

The seller’s attorney had been high-maintenance throughout the transaction. Each time the transaction reached a crossroads between a straightforward resolution and a confrontational one, she’d hit the gas and ramp us right up onto the challenge highway.

The closing was one bumper car crash after another, and then mercifully, it ran out of gas! My client had a new home, and I was done breathing in the foul exhaust fumes emitted by my adversary.

Yet the following week, Ms. Danica Pick-A-Fight reaches out to me with a “How are you?” and other faux niceties.  It seems she’d lost a document from the transaction that she absolutely needed, and would I please, please come to her assistance?

I did help, but I moved at a slower pace than a car with only three wheels. Do you know how hard it is to lift a file folder and look inside when there’s a huge chip on your shoulder?
