Tossed Salad Friday

~~ If you start a conversation with me by saying, “Want to hear a lawyer joke?” be forewarned that my response will always be “No.”

~~ Every time I want to scoff at the Mayan’s end of the world superstition, a senseless slaying or violent outburst erupts. When we look at the sheer chaos and mass murders taking place in the US and abroad, as well as the way Mother Nature is fighting us with small creatures and large disasters, I am uncertain about the rate of our path to destruction.

~~ Speaking of disasters, may I spend one moment of your time grousing about the Mets? Nah, never mind.

~~ I know everyone is stressed these days, but I hate being presented with clear-cut evidence that I’ve lost my mind.  Like yesterday, when I went to the freezer to get out a frozen English-type muffin to make my lunch. Later, when I went to look for the dog cookies for my pups, I found the balance of the six-pack of formerly frozen muffins in the cabinet where the cookies go! If you think I put the dog cookies in the freezer, you’d be incorrect. Apparently in my moment of lunching-while-stressed, the dog cookies were placed alongside the dishwashing powder.

~~How does anyone have enough time to recreationally correct other people’s grammar and typos? I’ve worked as a proofer, and now as an editor, and it’s what you do.  However, I can just hear some of these snarky people online cackling with glee every time they spot someone use “their” or “it’s” incorrectly (for the record, you can’t hear me, because I just cringe and move on).  Grammar Gaffes is not a sport!

~~ I won’t be blogging Monday and Tuesday, in observance of Rosh Hashanah.  Many readers know that I am more the kind of person who acknowledges the karmic power of the universe rather than the type who believes in a manipulative and omnipotent deity, but this year, I need all the divine assistance that the heavens can send my way. So if you have a spare prayer, send it my way. I’d be ever so grateful.

Have a good weekend. To those of you observing, L’Shana Tovah. I want us all to have a healthy, happy, prosperous, and sweet new year!

Let’s Go Mets!
