A Year in the Trenches

I handed the real estate agent her commission check at the end of the deal. “Jeeeee-suss, I am glad this is over,” she exclaimed.

“Oh?” said I, hoping she’d elaborate while wishing the story didn’t take too long.

“These people looked at over 100 houses in the past year,” she explained. “I would shake whenever they’d call me with list of houses they wanted to visit. They wasted whole weekends of my life; hell, they probably wasted whole months of my life.”

I remarked how “nice” that they’d liked my clients’ home. “Hmm-phh,” she snorted. “They don’t like it all that much. I just pleaded with them to ‘pick any cheap house, then tear it down and rebuild it.’ What do you know? They finally listened.”
