Poor Rocky

The physician was just trying to illustrate how effective HEPA filters are in screening out irritants by telling a story. But oh, how I wish he hadn’t!

It seems he put poison in his attic to kill the raccoons that had taken up residence. [First cringeworthy moment for me.]

One apparently took the bait and died, tumbling from the attic through the wall and down behind paneling installed alongside the staircase.  The “stench was disgusting” as the creature decomposed, but did doc rip out the paneling and remove the body?  Oh, no! He ran the HEPA filter day and night for six weeks!

By then, he related, the stink dissipated. He chortled, “Imagine the surprise that buyers of our house will have someday, when they take off the paneling and find the mummified raccoon skeleton!” [Shudder. Sigh.]

So, readers, a HEPA filter is apparently a doctor-approved remedy for both reek-reduction and purchaser-repulsion.
