Not Your Mother's American Dream

A mom and her teenager are comparing colleges. Says Mom, “If you go to an expensive school, you’ll have $100,000 or more of student loans to pay back, while the guy working in the next cubicle, who went to a state school, can be saving for a house.”

17 year old replies, “What’s the big deal about buying a house? I could care less whether I ever own a house.”

I can't even fathom that attitude!! I'm 24, and owning a home is my next big goal- should be happening next summer. The idea of never owning one and not caring about it is so foreign to me.

Let's take into consideration that he's 17. But his mom says he's also seen friends' families struggle to keep their homes, and hears bits and pieces on the news about real estate.

Times are definitely changing. I have double, sometimes even triple the amount of attendees at my sellers' seminars as at my buyers' seminars.

But speaking as a homeowner, and as someone who sees how home ownership has made a positive difference to many clients, I hope you achieve your goal. Let me know when you do!
