Tossed Salad Wednesday

~~I received a request for paperwork from the buyer of a long-ago client-seller. Seems the buyer’s attorney was not a resource, as she either “vanished, evaporated, or died.” I guess those are the only three options for ceasing to practice? A person can’t move, change their name, fall ill, or retire?

~~A friend of mine commented, “You sound more chipper than you have in a long time. Are things improving?” I started to say “No,” but then I realized why I was less sullen than usual. I’d purchased a modest amount of yarn at the crafts store, visited the library, and shopped at the farmers’ market for Thanksgiving. With a gift for a loved one on my knitting needles, a stack of books at my bedside and Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and spaghetti squash on my kitchen counter, how morose could I really be?

~~This year, instead of sacrificing a life to satisfy your appetite, how about adopting a turkey instead? http://www.adoptaturkey.org/ I’ve done this for more than two decades, and I find it a much more satisfying tradition than feasting on the flesh of a sentient creature who suffered both in living and in dying.

~~To me, Thanksgiving is all about loved ones gathering at the table to laugh, to share, and to reminisce about those who no longer have a place set for them. I trust that it is the same for you.

From the bottom of my heart, I wish you a happy Thanksgiving, filled with only tears of joy.
