What a Big Head You Have!

Actually, the other attorney didn’t say I had a big noggin.  He was effusively complimenting me on the “size of [my] thinking cap.”

There’s a first time for every compliment, I guess (though the ship has passed on being praised for my advanced mathematical skills or youthful enthusiasm).

What I did to draw such praise was approach an issue that had the transaction in a stalemate from a whole different angle. I figured that though the seller hated solution “A,” buyer objected to solution “B,” and the lender would refuse to close with solution “C,” all acknowledged they wanted the same problem eradicated.  The moment I realized who else could eradicate the trouble-- without objection-- the deal was revived!

I wish I could tell you exactly what happened, but you know my guidelines for blogging: nobody recognizable, no real details from recent encounters. However, I can conclude this bit of immodest self-puffery by sharing what the mortgage broker e-mailed me once the deal was resuscitated:  “Your solution was terrific! I will be sure to use it again in the future.”
