Singing a Sad Song

It would be easy to conclude from my writings that I meet a large variety of kooks, crazies, and crabby people in my practice. Actually, they are a small percentage of the people I meet everyday—they just make much more interesting blog postings.

Most of the people I encounter are lovely, warm, caring people. It makes sense, as they mainly come from the same “gene pool.”  You see, my clients are all referrals from other clients, so it stands to reason that nice people know other nice people (there’s always the SOB in-law, but that’s the risk you take).

Two of my favorite clients—and nicest people—passed away this past week.  Neither was old; one was middle-aged and the other even more middle-aged. Both had cancer; both suffered in their last stages.  Harriet was very funny and I loved hearing her announce her name when calling, as she shared my mother’s name. Robin was compassionate and insightful and part of one of the most wonderful couples it has been my privilege to know.

The passing of both these lovely women has left a hole in my heart.
