Another day, another busted deal

I just had to call another client to relate that the Buyers had backed out. No explanation was forthcoming in the terse fax that I received from their attorney, but of course the Sellers want to know why.

At some point in this flat-as-a-wafer market, I turned from "counselor at law" to "hand holder". I don't mind at all, but how many times can you reassure someone before you stop believing your own words?

These Sellers are not desperate to sell, and can explore other options if the revised strategy we discussed today doesn't pan out. Time will tell if my suggestions work here, as they have for others, but what I can't predict is what effect a saber-rattling North Korea will have on the already skittish mentality of potential buyers, bogged down by high gas prices, rising utilities, increasing taxes on the local, state and federal levels, and diminishing better job opportunities.

As my Grandmother used to say, "Oy".
