Since 1986, Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt-A-Turkey Project has rescued more than 1,000 turkeys, placed hundreds more into loving homes, and encouraged millions of people to consider a new tradition that leaves turkeys off their holiday dinner tables. No sentient creature deserves to be cruelly raised and brutally slaughtered for a holiday centerpiece or a leftover sandwich.
I’ve adopted turkeys from Farm Sanctuary since the early 90s; maybe you would consider doing the same this year? http://www.adoptaturkey.org/
~~ I have been in NYC just short of one zillion times, but I took the subway for the first time this week (yes, I’ve led a very sheltered life). There were some malodorous people nearby, and the muffled music from dozens of iPods converged into a very strange symphony, but the experience compared quite favorably with battling gridlock traffic while listening to sports talk radio (23 callers in a row, adding the same two cents about trading Jose Reyes, makes for an odious trip). If I had to commute every day, I’m sure my feelings would be different, but as I don’t, mass transit and I will no longer be strangers!
~~~Since typing the homage to the subway above, one song has been playing over and over in my head. So now I'll see if I can add it to your repertoire for today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFDJ9rhYNXU
Have a great weekend!
