I spoke to a potential client on Friday who was on the fence about whether he could afford to buy a house or not. I applauded his initiative in calling me before making such a big decision and I provided pointers and other preparatory steps he could take, such as speaking with a few different mortgage providers.
That’s when he cut me off, saying he’s already decided to use the bank that is in the same complex as his office. I inquire if they have some kind of deal for building residents, and he said: “I don’t know. I figure wherever I get my mortgage, I’m going to get ripped off. So I’m just not wasting my time.”Now that’s jaded, even for me.
