Universe 10, Me 1

If you recall, last Friday I ranted about how the universe seems to enjoy kicking my butt.  Last night, the universe struck again.

As I was paying a shiva (condolence) call, someone went into the room with the coats and purses and took almost every cent out of my wallet.  Money I needed for food and dog supplies (think of me as Old Mother Hubbard), and money that under my present circumstances I cannot replace with just a grumble and another trip to the ATM.

This was a criminal violation, and yet there's zero I can do about it.  How much lower can you get than stealing money from someone trying to comfort a mourner?

Here's the story I went looking for yesterday.  I'm not quoted in the right context, as post-closing possession agreements would take care of the final impediment raised, but overall it is a helpful article for those who waited until the last moments of the homebuyer tax program.

Once upon a time, at a funeral home, I left my purse in the ladies room (I was grieving and scatter-brained). By the time I remembered and went back, my wallet was completely missing. Just gone.

Scum don't care who they steal from or when they steal. Scum is scum.

I pray your days get better.

That seems even more despicable, but I may adopt your "scum is scum" line as today's mantra.

Thanks for sharing.
