Tossed Salad Friday

~~~No matter how nice I seem on the phone, Mr. Colleague, I can assure you that I don’t care to hear more than 15 seconds, max, about your recent colonoscopy.
~~~A client made a minor typo that fully summed up the stranglehold mortgage holders have on underwater homeowners.  She was corresponding with me concerning a “deed-in-lieu” (where the property is relinquished to the lender prior to a foreclosure judgment), and referred to it as a “died-in-lieu.”  Pre-cisely!

~~~From the “No Limits Foundation”:
EQUAL PAY DAY IS APRIL 20, 2010.
HOW MUCH DOES UNEQUAL PAY COST YOU?
Young working women: A young woman graduate of the same school, with the same kind of job, and same personal characteristics (marital status, children) as her male colleagues, earns 5% less the first year out of school. Ten years later she earns 12% less.
Two-parent, two-earner family: More than 70% of women work outside the home, and are therefore important contributors to the household income. But full-time working women earn only 77% of what their male counterparts earn, so their family budgets are below what it could be. For women of color, the discrepancy is even greater – costing their families even more.
Senior women: A lifetime of lower earnings is compounded by lower Social Security benefits (based on what you earned) and fewer pension plans, so senior women wind up even further behind. The median income for women age 65 and over is just $12,080 – less than 2/3 that of men their age.
Lifetime Cost: $434,000 average.
What could you do with that $434,000 you earned – but never received? This Equal Pay Day, join us in supporting the Paycheck Fairness Act, to help make equal pay a reality!  For more information on equal pay, and why the Paycheck Fairness Act will make a difference, visit
~~~My son is on the radio Saturday from Noon- 2PM.  You can listen here:  www.buffalostate.edu/wbny/webradio/

~~~I read a terrific book the other day.  First published almost two decades ago, I recently received the book at my annual “Book Swap.”  It was The Patron Saint of Liars, by Ann Patchett. I adored it!  The characters were well-constructed and the pacing was perfect.  I would recommend it without reservation.
~~~This got me thinking:

~~~Here’s the spot for my regular, obligatory sports references.  I don’t have much:  despite a good game yesterday, all I can muster today is just an indifferent, though dedicated, LET’S GO METS!
Have a great weekend!
Real Estate and Tax Credits - Urgent
I just saw some great information on Utah Real Estate (http://www.slcbuyerinfo.com) and the urgency to take advantage of the Tax Credits now available. The website was http://www.slcbuyerinfo.com. It made me realize what a unique time we are in for purchasing real estate right now and making a killing in profit down the road.
You must not be familiar with my writings...a "killing" implies a death on the other side, and I don't celebrate taking advantage of anyone.
