I like that about practicing real estate law: when reasonable people put their heads together, the bottom line is always a dollar amount. There’s no emotional baggage or revenge or rules of evidence to prevent a resolution. People pay a bit to get a bigger sum at closing, people accept an amount to put them in their home.
It’s not a science, and it certainly doesn’t always work when unreasonable people are involved. But when I phrase the question as succinctly as above, I usually get a quantifiable answer in reply.
