It’s The Hap-Happiest Time Of The Year

I locked heads with the world's (or at least NY's) most lazy, yet also most belligerent attorney. He's seemingly doing nothing to clear title, yet was nasty to me about about how close to the holidays it is getting. His clients (sellers) have moved across the country, so this whole traveling back for a closing is a huge imposition on them, especially as the holidays approach and airfares increase (he repeatedly said).

The issue is that their fence was installed over five feet onto a neighbor’s property. The solutions are to obtain an affidavit from the neighbor and/or relocate the fence. And if either of these moves take a bit of time, the sellers can provide their lawyer with a Power of Attorney so he can close without their physical presence at the closing table.

But you’d never know it from the heated conversation, wherein the man who had failed to draft the affidavit yet (despite being on notice since mid-November) kept steering the conversation away from the misplaced fence and onto how I was causing his clients to incur higher airline fares “around the holidays!”

I have someone on the other side of a deal like that. He figures if he bullies me I'll just say "yes" to whatever he demands, while what I keep saying is "I'll advise my client that is a very bad idea." He's furious with me!
