My New Philsophy

The attorney was semi-explaining the mortgage docs to the buyers. An associate of the attorney I’d worked with during the deal, I couldn’t tell if the woman across the table from me was super-green or just very lazy when she’d say things like, “And this is the, uh, Mortgage Note. It means you owe all the money back.” And, “This form needs you to sign in case the bank finds you were fraudulent.”
The closing was speeding along, thanks in no small part to Ms. Efficient Explainer. Though I was busy with my client’s paperwork, I was looking forward to eavesdropping on how she would describe the 40-50 pages still in the stack to be signed.  That’s when she cheated her client, but amused me no end, by pushing the entire remaining pile of papers in front of the purchaser with direction to “Just sign them all. Life’s not fair and neither are banks.”
