Who Wears Short Shorts?

My blog about the inappropriately-attired attorney from earlier this week prompted a colleague to share this story:

I went to a closing the day before the start of the Memorial Day weekend. In walks the title closer in itty-bitty shorts. I look at her, she looks straight back at me, and giggles. “I’m heading to the Hamptons when we’re done here, so let’s get going!”

Seriously, who does that? If I was the buyers’ counsel, I’d have been mad, but it turns out the closer is his new wife’s niece. So it was smiles all around, and I felt like a stick-in-the-mud.

Whatever happened to changing after a closing? I’ve brought jeans and visited the rest room after the transaction concluded, or changed clothes when I reached my more casual destination. Maybe I’m a stick-in-the-mud, too, for thinking that when you’re working during a closing, it’s neither the time nor the place for teeny togs. (On the other hand, lots of people patronize places like Hooters, so perhaps some enterprising professionals might show more leg in their law practices just to increase their bottom lines.)
