Tossed Salad Friday

~~My dog often looks curious as to why I jump and run when the phone rings, look out the window when the doorbell chimes, or grab a plate when the toaster pings (actually, he likes that one). He also seems to wonder why I talk or yell at the TV, when he never hears anyone answer. That dog makes a great point.

~~The local NPR station has a commentator, David Bouchier, who always entertains and often engages me. I was smiling throughout his commentary last Monday (though I strongly disagree with him about vegetables).  You can listen or read his April 30 monologue here:  http://wshu.org/bouchier/bouchier_main.php I recommend it!

~~I laughed when I received a notice about a Continuing Education course offered by the Bar Association on the “Trial of a Medical Malpractice Case.” No, the topic is not chuckle-worthy, but the line below the topic headline was.  It read LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS! Who volunteered to be on the receiving end of a medical malpractice demo?

~~I’m reading about the “tension” between junior lawyers at a large firm (now in disarray) that only make $300,000, and the big-buck partners who make millions. The 1% do have their burdens to bear.

~~Did you ever have a day that required two large mugs of oolong tea? I did.

~~I take an “Adult Ed” school at the local high school.  Yesterday’s class was canceled; here’s the e-mail notice:

Student, Hello.

We regret that we will have to cancel tonight's class. The instructor is ill and can not make it.

That’s my school tax dollars at work!

~~The Rangers game that stated Wednesday and ended Thursday was one for the ages!  Though I am conflicted writing about this, because I adore hockey, the game came to resemble a gladiator match. These men fought to the finish as the crowds in the arena (and at home) urged them on. Blood was spilled and bodies bruised as players were exhorted to make the emperors fans happy. When I’ve caught up on my sleep, and the playoffs are over, I plan to revisit this topic, as I felt a bit queasy at times. Though that could have also been a symptom of the high-anxiety game, which included three overtimes!

Have a great weekend! I have too much to say about the Rangers, too little to say about the Knicks, and the Mets get a pass for now.

LET’S GO RANGERS!

GO, NY KNICKS, GO!

LET’S GO METS!
