Tossed Salad Friday

~~You know that you’re having a really crappy day when the high point is being pleased because you didn’t track the dog poop you stepped in all over your office.

~~At what point should I accept that if no one listens, it might be me?

~~I heard that some parents are asking other parents to sign a waiver before dropping their kids off for a play date. I’m of two mindsets here, as we live in a litigious society where many people sue over anything. But as a parent, if I’m asked to sign a waiver before leaving my kid, I’m suspicious. I’m thinking it’s either wisest to stay, or head for neutral ground, like a park.

~~  When my kids were little, I never let them go to another home without quizzing a parent about the presence of handguns. If guns were present, my kids didn’t go (except once, when my son’s soon-to-be best friend had a father who was a cop). Other parents sniffed and probably gossiped about me, but I never regretted asking.  Maybe that’s part of my hesitation about waivers, as it seems to relieve the parents rather than involve them.

~~ I called an attorney twice, he called me back twice. Know what the SOB says when he returns my call? “Hang on and let me get the file. I was tired of carrying it back and forth because you’re never there.” Dude, my first voice-mail to you said, “Send me a detailed e-mail so we don’t take the chance of missing each other,” plus you freaking called me. Forget the snide-y remark and be prepared when you call.

~~My Mom’s birthday is tomorrow. She’s been gone 24 years, but I still want to pick up the phone and call her most every day. If you’ve got a mom who’ll answer when you call, say “hi” for me.

Please have a great weekend! The Rangers have seriously hampered my oxygen intake this week, so stay tuned to see if I’m still breathing on Monday.

LET’S GO RANGERS!

GO, NY KNICKS, GO!

LET’S GO METS!

Another Friday..
..another great Tale from the Real Estate lawyer :)

I don't sign waivers for playdates (but I DO sometimes bring the parents a bottle of wine when collecting my daughter from e.g. big birthday parties, loud playdates etc. They'll need it!).

I'd have told the ill-prepared lawyer to call back when he had all the files to hand and hung up.

I'll call my mom tomorrow.

Re: Another Friday..
The bottle of wine is a very lovely gesture!

I can't tell the SOB off because my clients want to buy his clients' house. Otherwise, I'd have done precisely what you recommend!

Say "hi" to your Mom in every language.
